The custom-built house that she and her husband James own in Hanover County is scheduled to be featured Friday in Barbara Corcoran’s real estate segment during the 9 a.m. hour on NBC’s “Today.”

The five-bedroom house with about 3,000 square feet has been on and off the market for a couple of years. The Knights took the house off the market a year ago when their third daughter was ready to make her entry into the world.

The house in the Huntington Woods subdivision off U.S. 301 is back on the market for $369,000 plus a $2,000 closing cost incentive for the purchaser.

Knight, the mother of three children, said she doesn’t get to watch much TV. But she heard about the show from her mother-in-law. “I thought it was worth a shot.”

She found the website for the show and sent an email in January about the house.

“Something must have resonated with her,” Knight said about the contact person for the segment.

“My husband and I just wanted to find an additional platform to showcase our home to as many potential buyers as possible.”

Their agent, Holly R. David of Eagle Realty of Virginia, said the competition is tough. “Any out-of-box idea that an agent or a seller can do … may well give them a more competitive edge.”

Knight said she was stunned when she learned that her house had been selected to be featured.

The couple have since received an offer on their house, but the sale is contingent on the sale of the buyers’ home.

“I am not taking any chances,” Knight said, noting that the offer could fall through.

Highly motivated sellers, she and her husband moved six months ago into an apartment in the Short Pump area so they could be near his job. They live with their twin 6-year-old daughters and toddler in a two-bedroom apartment.

“Can you feel my pain?” Knight said about the cramped quarters. More importantly, “it’s been a huge financial burden to have a mortgage and rent,” she said.
